A Showgirl's Checklist for Daily Cleaning
62
The last thing a woman with a hectic schedule needs is a chaotic home. A burlesque career is a glamorous career, making it particularly devastating to walk into a less-than-enchanting home. Yet a day set aside to clean the house from top to bottom is not exactly elegant either unless it begins with a glass of champagne. So how can the showgirl, or any woman for that matter, find home keeping to be a well-maintained affair? After a year of showgirl activities, my home hasn’t been fully destroyed, but that lovely gleam that I love to wake up to has faded and not surprisingly. I’ve traveled to Chicago and California, not to mention all over Texas. I’ve performed in festivals and showcases, taught burlesque classes, posed in photo shoots, maintained my blog, interviewed in magazines…needless to say I’ve been occupied. So I’ve compiled from my favorite sources (Martha Stewart & Real Simple to name two) handy cleaning checklists. To these checklists I’ve added some much needed “to do’s.” I suggest printing the list, clipping it into sections with decorative edge shears, and discreetly taping it to areas in each room as a reminder. These little reminders serve not only to make sure you cover every task, but as little reminders to make sure you stick to it! (My husband would like to add that asking your husband to help will help tremendously as well.) I also advise that you pop open that bottle of champagne and clean every corner of your home first, that you can begin with the most stunning clean slate.Below, you will find both the textual and the pictorial versions of the checklist.
Cheers!
